Meeting Critical Needs Directly

Home Base Initiative

Home is an essential foundation for us all. Affordable housing remains one of the most pressing issues in underserved communities and our workforce across America. With average rental costs consuming disproportionate amounts of middle to low-income earners’ wages, families often struggle to save, access healthcare, or contribute to their communities. Addressing this housing gap is essential to solving interconnected socioeconomic challenges.
Farmerseeds 4 the Soul Inc., based in Trappe, Maryland, addresses this crisis by acquiring and rehabilitating distressed, abandoned, government-owned, and foreclosed properties. We transform these assets into safe, accessible, and affordable homes for marginalized groups and the overleveraged workforce. Our commitment goes beyond brick and mortar. Through educational seminars and partnerships, we also empower those we serve to pursue home ownership, create safe spaces, support systems, and acquire new skills to achieve stability.

Food Distribution Program: Eat – Grow – Share Initiative

Farmer Seeds 4 The Soul has been able to distribute over 35,000 meals to children and their families in Montgomery county, who are suffering from food insecurity. Partnering with Manna food, parents and students volunteers through the Smart Sacks program. In July 2020 we partnered with City of Light Church, DC Fridge Collective, the Capital Area Food Bank, DC Natives distributing over 20 tons of food to seniors and families in MD and DC.

Access to fresh produce and nutritious food & beverage options are becoming more scarce, in a growing food apartheid. Our approach is disrupting that reality and creating a new Eco system. By targeting one community at a time to re-purpose food waste and establish urban gardens, we can quantify our impact on reducing food insecurity, while creating more green spaces. Urban Gardens help to plant strong roots of personal responsibility, empowerment, and self sufficiency. Providing invaluable skills and knowledge in agriculture, sustainability, and nutrition.

We partner with Commercial Property Owners to construct and maintain our rooftop or traditional urban gardens, helping increase green spaces and biodiversity, reducing our storm water run off, and urban air pollution. Donating 100% of the harvest to marginalized and neglected communities, local food pantries, organizations who support food insecure areas.

Level Up Initiative

We have established effective distribution channels for food rescue, food box donations, essential pantry pop ups and deliveries, winter clothing, and hygiene essentials. We have distributed hundreds of toys and electronics to kids during the holiday season and self care and winter clothes to homeless shelters.

Reimagined Initiative

Grant Proposal for Art Exhibit: "Reimagined: Upcycled Art from Paper and Recycled Materials"

“Reimagined” is an art exhibit dedicated to showcasing innovative works of art created from repurposed paper and recycled materials. The exhibit aims to highlight the creative potential of upcycling and raise awareness about environmental sustainability. By transforming discarded materials into extraordinary works of art, this exhibit will challenge traditional perceptions of waste and invite viewers to consider the power of rethinking and repurposing materials in their everyday lives. This proposal requests funding to cover exhibition costs, including the creation of the artworks, artist fees, installation, marketing, and community outreach efforts. The grant will help support an interdisciplinary group of local artists who specialize in up-cycling, while also encouraging public engagement through workshops and educational programs that demonstrate the artistic process of up-cycling.
